CITIGOV

“We fight as a single, impenetrable unit. That is the source of our strength. Each Spartan protects the man on his left, thigh to neck with his shield. A single weak spot, and the phalanx shatters. Thigh to neck Ephialtes.” – King Leonidas (300)

In the movie “300”, the soldiers showed a strong sense of unity. They also helped each other in the obstacles that they met.  They also followed the rules made by King Leonidas. They showed importance for the state and they are ready to sacrifice their very lives so the state will free from tyranny.  The ancient state and the state today have got a common problem. That is corruption. Theron, the councilman was the symbol of corruption and it was killed by the queen. In our case today, it is hard to destroy the roots of corruption because the very leaders of country are corrupt.

I think a good state should be united with the absence of a calamity. Before the typhoon Ondoy landed on our land, I thought that Philippines cannot to be a better state anymore because no one would like to help each other. Then Ondoy came and devoured many people and destroyed their houses. The people of our state started to move. I was a volunteer to help the typhoon victims in my former school and I saw the thing that I didn’t imagine that I can witness it in our state. It was unity. You can see hundreds of people, carrying goods, sorting them out, putting them into trucks and delivering it to the evacuation areas. If we can be like this without the typhoon, I guess we can achieve our goal to be a corrupt-free Philippines. The next thing I wanted to add is: We should obey the rules of our state. See, if we are disciplined and follow the rules, there will be fewer crimes and they won’t focus on catching people anymore. Instead, they will focus more on developing the state. A state should also be corrupt-free. Corruption is the main reason why Philippines is poor. Our leaders are stealing money and keeping it in their pockets for personal gain. They don’t even think about their people either.
